Duh!

I just got my first peek at Premier's Holiday Gift Collection, there is some super cute stuff in there, but I also saw something new that I can't believe I hadn't thought of.

The cute new De La Creme pearl necklace comes with three different colored ribbons to lengthen the necklace. The ribbons all have their own clasps to make them super easy to use.

I immediately stopped what I was doing to make a set of my own. My ribbons are brown, pink, cream, and black. Each end of the ribbon is tie to a jump ring with a clasp on it. Simpley fold a long necklace in half, attach the clasps of the ribbon to each end, instant new necklace.

Here's a photo of the De La Creme necklace from the new gift guide, and a photo of my version. Love them both!

What a weekend!

I have a great weekend! Here's a quick re-cap:

Friday night was a quick dinner date with my hubby, then I spent the rest of the cold, rainy evening in my studio putting together a quilt top. I haven't had time to do this very much lately, and sometimes it is so wonderful to be a homebody!

Saturday was football day. We were lucky enough to score Ohio State tickets and we spent the entire day enjoying the OSU football atmosphere and the best chicken restaurant ever!. We got home early enough to get some stuff done, therefore I we were finally able to put together my new tv stand! My living room is sooooo close to almost done!

Sunday is proving to be super relaxing. For example, at the moment (9:30am) I am still in my pajamas, on the couch, with my coffee, watching a bunch of politicians argue with each other. I might go to the grocery store, I might not, we'll see what the day brings!

Here are some photos from my weekend:

Sooooooo comfortable

I bought my very first maxi-skirt this weekend (on clearance of course), and I have just one thing to say; what in the world took me so long?!

I swear, this was the most comfortable outfit I have ever worn! And I got complements all day long.

I am not a fan of maxi-dresses, I'm not sure why, maybe I don't like the name, and it could be because I feel like it looks like I'm wearing a giant bag. I've tried on a number of them and I am always disappointed, so I guess I assumed that a skirt would be the same. I was so wrong, I can't believe I missed out on this all summer. You can be sure I will be wearing this wonderful thing well into the fall.

The perfect night

I have been begging for a campfire night at our place all summer, and seeing as it is the last Saturday of the summer (according to the calendar) it seemed only fair that we squeeze one in. The weather agreed and it is finally cool enough that the fire is necessary, as opposes to just pretty.

Here are some pictures I'd our relaxing last summer weekend!

What is that?!

That's exactly what my husband asked when he saw it in the fridge, along with a "I looks disgusting"

To be honest, he's right, it dies look disgusting, which is what I thought the first time I saw it on Pinterest, so clearly I had to try it.

The health food groupies recommend oats, Greek yogurt, chia seeds, organic fruit, etc. these recipe typically turn me off because I just don't stock those kinds of foods in my kitchen. Don't get me wrong, I'm all about eating healthy, but I'm not big on fads, or spending tons of money to eat healthy. However, I figured I could make some sime substitutions, and I actually had all of the ingredients that it would require.

So here's my version, and while it may not look pretty, it tastes wonderful. It also successfully kept me full all morning long!

1/2 cup vanilla yogurt (I used Dannon Light and Fit)
1/2 cup rolled oats (not quick oats, quick oats will get too mushy)
1/2 or one whole banana (you decide how much banana you want)***

Mix it all together and put it in the refrigerator overnight, enjoy for a quick breakfast!

*** you can add any combination o fruit/spices/jam/peanut butter etc. I just happen to be on a banana kick at the moment, so that's what I had.

Remembering

I have so much respect for my local country radio station right now - everyone else is talking about ridiculous, totally unrelated things, but this station just did a moment of silence and some classic Lee Greenwood.

That is exactly what my soul needed today. We may have moved on, but we haven't forgotten, and we shouldn't pretend we have.

I'm not saying that I have devoted my day to remembering, I'm just like everyone else, I have to go to work, go to the gym, run some errands, but these few minutes that I've taken to remember this morning have been eels worth it, so thank you 107.7 the Wolf for being patriotic this morning!

Easy little gifts

A group of us from work are going to a mentoring conference this week and we have been really looking forward to it for a number of reasons; we're weird and love professional development, we're looking forward to talking to adults for a couple of days, and we get some much needed girl time!

Since we've been looking forward to it so much I thought i'd kick up the fun factor a little bit. I started combing my easy gift stash for some goodie bag fillers, and while I found the usual suspects (bath and body travel size items, etc), I wanted to add a little something different - and cheap!

This is what I came up with, cute little button hair ties, and so easy!

My night

Below is a picture of the wall art I just finished to go with all if our new living room furniture, and while I am very excited about my art (my first successful frame distressing experience), I am more struck by the scene occurring in my living room at the moment.

I am on the couch, in my pajamas with a glass of wine, watching a presidential speech and paying bills... I am officially an adult, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it...

On the other hand, I ate ice cream for dinner, so what does that say about the state of my adult-ness?

Sad business!

I got a flat tire on my car today :( I didn't cry - which is surprising, I think I handled it pretty well all things considered - I ran over something on the freeway. My husband is officially my hero for rescuing me from the side of the highway and for changing my tire, not to mention making me an appointment to get new tires before I even made it back to work (yes, this all happened on my lunch break). And I'm not even upset that I have to buy new tires because he's been telling me that I would have to get them before winter, so it was already in my brain. The best part of this whole thing is that for once, I can actually afford to deal with a mini emergency - nothing ever happens to me when I can afford it to! Lesson learned, that money I've been putting aside from every paycheck is well worth it!

Yay!

It's my favorite time of the year - it is officially Pumpkin Spice season at Starbucks!!!! Go enjoy one now - I am!!!
