Furniture drama

I have been saving for new living room furniture since we got back from our honeymoon (a year and 3 months to be exact), so when we went to finally purchase the set that I had been dreaming of I was completely devastated that it was out of stock.

They gave us a number of different stores that we could order it through online - they were all out of stock. After many tears (yes, I was a bit dramatic) I finally decided it wasn't meant to be. Cue my savior - Ikea! Here are photos of the new set that I've picked out, along with a new rug, now I just have to schedule a girls day with my sister to go pick it up!

Yuck

I am so over summer. I suppose I was spoiled by last week's 70 degree temperatures, so 91 degrees is not my friend today. Do you realize how hard it is to hand-quilt a project when your fingers are too sweaty to grip a needle!

A new calendar!

When I first started this blog I was looking for a dull one job and trying to make some money selling custom planners and calendars in Etsy (hence the Obsessively Organized). I was doing pretty well, but after a while my planners became so over the top and so involved that I felt like I was micromanaging my life all on a little piece of paper - they had dinner menus, budgets, work out schedules, shopping lists, to do lists, note pages, bill payment schedules, looking at my calendar became an overwhelming task, so I stopped using one entirely.

For a whole this worked, but at the beginning of this month I began to get the nagging feeling that I was forgetting something. Yesterday I finally sat down and created a beautiful, simple new calendar and I could not be happier with how it turned out.

This one will definitely be sitting out on my counter! Look for these to be available in the Etsy shop soon, I am so lolling forward to getting back into it!

Help!

I have a problem - I have become an online shopping addict! In the last week I have purchased all of my Christmas cards, a new pair of boots, a necklace, and a ring. Tonight I talked myself out of a magazine subscription via Amazon, and I am currently contemplating an additional pair of new shoes.

I am blaming the vast majority of these purchases on my lack of self control, coupled with all these wonderful emails that have popped up in my inbox proclaiming "back to school sale!"

While I have been able to justify the purchases that I've made; see recent post on Christmas cards, and to boots are to replace a pair with holes through the soles, the jewelry is to wear to a wedding (and using my Premier Jeweler discount!), but still, it's getting a bit insane. I'm not sure what's worse, my online shopping habit or my lunch-hour shopping habit, it perhaps my direct sales party compulsion. I have a problem.

Wow. This whole post makes me spun like I must have a ridiculous amount of credit card debt. I don't. I promise. Just a case of the "I worked my ass off all summer to earn this money and now I'm gonna spend it" fever.

Easy peasy dinner

I've shared my pizza crust recipe with you before, my favorite thing about it is that it makes 2 crusts, so you can use one immediately and freeze the other, tho means we have pizza A LOT. Sometimes I try to shake it up, just a little.

Tonight, our conversation about dinner went something like this;
Me: what do you want for dinner?
A: I don't know, something easy, like sandwiches

Ok, first I would like to point out that he said "something easy" as if he was going to be the one to make it, when in reality, we both know he will have nothing at all to do with making dinner. Secondly I would like you to know that I bought lunch meat this past weekend, so we have both been eating sandwiches all week for lunch, therefore, not my first choice for dinner.

And you ask " where in the world is she going with this?!" so I'll just cut to the chase, here's what we had for dinner;

Sandwich rolls
1 pizza crust (homemade or canned)
Assorted lunchmeat - your preference
Cheese - again, your preference

Spread the pizza crust out on the pan that you want to bake it on, layer with lunchmeat and cheese, covering the crust completely. Roll it up and carefully close the edges and pinch the seam so the cheese won't melt out. Bake at 400 degrees F for 25 to 30 minutes. Slice and enjoy the easiest dinner ever.

This would be great for game day too!

Right now is the time to shop!

Most people say that you shouldn't shop for clothes at back to school time because fall clothes are just coming out, and therefore not as cheap as they will be in a month or two.

I say fine, don't shop for fall clothes, shop the clearance racks of clothes that stores are trying to get rid of so they can put out the new fall stuff. Look for tank tops to layer under cardigans and t shirts that you will be able to wear well into October (or, if your workplace is anything like mine, all winter long because the heater is so dang hot), you may even be able to find sweaters left from last winter, like the cute striped one I scored at TJMaxx today for $7!

This is also the time to watch your email for deals from your favorite stores, some stores will offer great deals on new stuff, but it is usually just a one-day or weekend sale, so you have to act fast.

I hope you score some great deals like I have!

That time of the year

It's officially here, the time of the year where I begin to crave all things fall related - sweaters, nice warm lattes, pumpkin everything...

I blame this on Starbucks, every year they release pumpkin spice in August, and I am so ready!

Of course the weather has definitely played a role in this, it has been 70 degrees all week, do when it gets back up to 95 it's gonna throw me all out of whack!

Why do I...

Why do I always find myself drinking a glass of wine while making dinner (ok not ALWAYS, but still...)

Friday Friday!

I have been so looking forward to this weekend, I have big plans! Tonight we are going to a concert - one of my all time favorite performers, the great Phil Vassar. He is amazing in concert, this will be the third time that I've seen him perform, but it's an outdoor concert, so I'm praying the rain stops!

Tomorrow is one of our favorite events of the summer, tractor pulls at the Henry county fair with my very best friend who I haven't seen in a whole month. The boys can watch the pulls, us girls have some serious catching up to do, she gets married in 3 weeks!!!

To top it off, the weather is supposed to be absolutely gorgeous, sunny and 70 degrees, this is my favorite time of the year. August through October is perfect in northwest Ohio!

Christmas Cards

Yes, you read that right, Christmas Cards, as in, I just ordered this years' Christmas Cards.  Now at this point you are probably thinking something along the lines of "this girl is out of her freaking mind!" But hear me out, because I have a perfectly good reason for doing this;

It's simple really, the closer it gets to the holiday season, the more card choices are available, and i cannot for the life of me make up my mind.  I have found that when I order them in the middle of the summer, there are fewer choices, and therefore, it is far easier to decide.  There is also the fact that I took the photo that I knew I wanted to use for our Christmas Card last week, and I'm not really a patient girl, so I got right on it. Plus I got to take advantage of free shipping that Snapfish is offering at the moment.

I want to give you a sneak peak, without ruining the surprise for those of you who will eventually receive my card in the mail, so here is the design with the photo supplied by Snapfish - it's classic!

Why do I...

Why do I always find myself drinking a glass of wine while making dinner (ok not ALWAYS, but still...)

Cookies for the fair

Every year I attempt to out-do my fair entries from the previous year. Last year I entered one quilt, this year I did 2, last year I made adorable farmer gingerbread men, this year it's cookies shaped like ribbons an pies. We'll see how judging goes tomorrow!

Boot envy

I have been a busy girl, but I've managed a few minutes to people-watch (a favorite county fair pastime, just when you think you've seen everything...). Today I've been checking out boots, cowboy boots, it didn't take me long to decide that I NEED and new pair (and by need I really mean want so bad that I will splurge part of my next pay check because there is no talking me out of this, even though I really don't need them).

Now, I'm not typically one to blow a large chunk of money on a single pair of shoes (bags are my weakness), my shoes usually come from target or Payless, or somewhere equally cheap, because I know I will wear them or a season and never touch them again. Boots are a little different. I think of boots the ways most people think of tennis shoes; if you spend a lot for a really nice pair they will last a lot longer. Seeing as I wear my boots a lot more than I have ever worn tennis shoes, this justification works for me.

I've decide that it's time to move on up from the cute, every day boots that I currently own (and don't get me wrong, I LOVE my boots, I wear them all the time), to something a little nicer, I'm in for a dressy pair. Here are two that I've been eying. Both are Justin boots, I'm a pretty loyal consumer...

It's here...

It is officially, the craziest, busiest, ridiculous, exhausting, gossip filled week of the year has arrived. The Wood County Fair began yesterday. Seriously, they should make a reality tv show out of this, this belongs on CMT.

We have tempers flaring, competition, arguments, gossip, scandals, and hook-ups all in one spot, for one whole week, I would watch it!

So far the weather has been perfect, and though it's sure to be a very long week, I'm looking forward to every minute of it! Here are some pictures from yesterday!

My new favorite

This watch is my new favorite piece of jewelry, it is light-weight and the tortoise shell band makes it look casual, but the awesome bling on the face makes a huge statement - look for this piece in Premier's 2012-2013 catalogue, it is appropriately named " Style Watch"
